2009 Season - Pre Season Guide
Draft Day
We are exactly 4 weeks way from the 2009 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS HQ on Monday evening August 31st. Cheryl will be doing food for 6:30pm with the draft following at 7pm. All should be wrapped up by 10pm. Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all the players 2008 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. This year big names now available include both QB Peyton Manning ,Running Backs Joseph Addai, Marion Barber, Reggie Bush, Maurice Jones-Drew, Willie Parker and LaDainian Tomlinson as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation & become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 17 rookies - see the rookie report attached.
Goodbye Mark, Hello Craig
After 2 years Mark Harris has sold his Yellows franchise to Craig Barnes who has renamed them the Leamington Spartans. Mark leaves after 2 successful seasons, winning the Conference in his first year and finishing 5th in the Premiership this year. He leaves with the 9th highest annual average all-time (453 points). Many of you will know Craig from the nfl.com fantasy game which he has won, so he knows his NFL. Rules dictate Craig joins in the Conference so as a result of this Daz gets a reprieve and is not relegated, staying in the Premiership to fill Yellows’ place.
Draft Order and Franchise Players
Ron will have the first pick in the draft and Wayne the final choice. Craig will pick last in the Conference (after David S and 8th overall). The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are attached. Craig will have an extra pick at the end of the 3rd & 5th round to compensate for no Franchise players and Chief and Wayne will pick after Craig at the end of the 5th round. In the annual re-naming, David S changes the French Virgins to the French (Old) Farts and will be looking for experience to get him promoted.
Trading DaysAs with previous years if you make a complete hash of your draft (or if one of your key picks gets injured) you will have 2 opportunities to put things right. Trading Day 1 will be on Sunday 18th October before the week 6 games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 22nd November before the week 11 games. Get these dates in your diary.
Season Kick-Off Game
Our first game to watch this season is Tennessee @ Pittsburgh. We expect Sky will show the game live in the early hours of Friday September 10th and we’ll get together later that evening to watch it off tape. Venue to be confirmed. See you on August 31st.
